John Turner: A Sad And Tragic Loss To Many In Football

By Sam Elliott

It is with much sadness and deep shock that we confirm the devastating news that John Turner - Vice Chairman at Bishop’s Stortford Football Club has sadly past away suddenly in Majorca

John who was 62 yrs old was a long standing committee member of the National League U19 Alliance and had been at our last meeting held on Thursday 20th September when we opened our new League office.

His many years of experience in the game was always of benefit and wisely given. He willingly attended to his formal duties and any special occasions to represent the Competition. At that last meeting he had been in a good mood and joked with his colleagues, eagerly looking forward to the season ahead for everyone.

It should also be remembered that John served The National League itself as an elected Board member to represent the National League South clubs from 2014 to 2017.

He will have made many friends during his time in football along with his love of horse racing too and we can only offer our most sincere condolences to his wife Anne and his children Caroline and Richard, remaining family members and those friends inside and outside of the game.
