It’s Been A Long Time Coming For New Leaders

Bromley boss Neil Smith revealed the win which took the club top of the National League was four years in the making.

The south east London club are the new leaders after their dramatic 2-1 victory over Notts County.

Shawn McCoulsky’s fine winner was a goal on debut after he arrived from Forest Green on Thursday night.

Smith revealed he has been trying to bring the player to Hayes Lane since 2015!

“I really couldn’t have asked for any more from the boys,” he told the club’s video service.

“I say it every week and I am starting to sound repetitive but they have given me everything.

“Shawn only came in on Friday to meet the boys, but what a way to say hello!

“We bought him here hoping he could do something like that, but didn’t expect it on his debut.

“He is actually someone we have been looking at for three of four years.

“We wanted to sign him but he has always ended up going somewhere else. He went to Bristol City and then to Forest Green, we always missed out.

“But we have always kept an eye on him - I have known him and his family for a long time.

“The opportunity came late to sign him on Thursday but I am glad it did!”

Over 3,000 packed into the ground and with third place Woking visiting in midweek the manager wants a repeat performance.

“I want to say thank you to the supporters as they have really turned out in their numbers,” he added.

“I don’t know if they know how important they are but we are going to need more of the same on Tuesday”
