Holness Loaned to Alty

By Steve Whitney

Altrincham have made their fourth loan signing this month with the...

...arrival of centre-back Marcus Holness from Vanarama National League rivals Tranmere Rovers on a one-month deal.

Holness, who was born in Swinton, arrived at Prenton Park on a two-year deal from Burton Albion in summer 2014.

He started out with Oldham Athletic, before going out on loan to Rochdale in Autumn 2007, a club he then joined in early 2008.

Another loan followed, to Barrow AFC in January 2009. He was an ever-present for Rochdale in 2010/11 season but after five seasons at Spotland he moved on and spent two more campaigns with Burton Albion.

He then joined Tranmere but, early in 2015, was sidelined by a knee ligament injury.

Ironically his first game back after that injury was on 29th August 2015 against Altrincham, but another injury then sidelined him once more in September.
