History Boy Cogdon Is Back To Pick Up Where He Left Off

Spennymoor Town fan favourite Gavin Cogdon says he's hoping to take the club to another level after confirming his return to Brewery Field.

The 36-yar-old is back for a second spell after leaving for South Shields in 2016.

With 132 goals in 289 appearances, it's easy to see why Cogdon secured legendary status with the Moors' fans.

Speaking of his return, Cogdon told the club's official website: “It’s a massive move. As soon as I spoke to Jason I knew it was a club I instantly wanted to come back to."

“My first spell here was great, but it’s about looking at the here and now. Spennymoor are in a different position than when I was previously here, and I want to help take them to another level.”

Long-serving boss Jason Ainsley added: “We talk about the journey of Spennymoor Town, and he has been a major part of that.

“He is probably fitter now than he ever has been, so to sign him on a one-year deal was a no brainer."
