Heeding To New Heights! Gateshead's Get First Foundation Gong

Gateshead’s Foundation have marked an historic moment after the organisation claimed its first ever award.

The Heed were recognised for their efforts locally at the The North East StreetGames ceremony, after being nominated thanks to the work they do locally with children and young people.

The Foundation landed the North East Doorstep Sport Project of the Year award and hopefully it will be the first accolade of many as the club really ramp up their community efforts/

They tweeted: “Today is a very proud day for the Foundation, as we picked up our first ever award for our work in the community from @streetgames. We would like to thank all staff and volunteers for their handwork as well as the @TheNLTrust The Bellinger Trust @SchoonerNE8 @gateshead.”

The Foundation says their mission is to be a leading community charity building better lives through sport. We use the power of sport to provide meaningful education, employability, health, inclusion, environmental, and sport programmes.

They add: “At the heart of our work is a commitment to empowering the most vulnerable members of the communities in which we work. The charitable arm of Gateshead FC, we are proud to be working in our local community.

“Our partnerships will play an important role in helping us achieve our aims and deliver projects of the highest quality, with demonstrated returns for society.”
