Harrison Delighted To Get Past Tough Test

Hartlepool United boss Craig Harrison praised his side for coming back from behind to beat South Shields in the FA Cup.

Hartlepool fell behind to a Carl Finnigan strike but goals from Devante Rodney and Nicky Deverdics meant the Vanarama National League team made the draw for the first round, writes Tom Feaheny.

“I thought we played well and up until they scored the goal we controlled possession,” Harrison said to the club's website,

“Credit to them for their reaction because I had a go at half time and in the end, I wouldn’t say it was comfortable but we’ve got the win.

Harrison picked out the goal scorers but also his centre-backs for helping them get over the line with a win.

“The two centre-halves were excellent in the second half; people who know me know how honest I am and if I am going to have a go at people then I’ll be the first to congratulate them when they perform like that in the second half.

“It was a great finish from Devante, talk about passing it in to the net. And we all know about Devs’ delivery and set-pieces, I would like to see him score more but what a great time to score one."
