The Vanarama National League side followed up an away win with a home victory this time against an SPFL opponent, writes Tom Feaheny.

Goals from Macaulay Langstaff, Kieran Green and Tom White helped Gateshead storm to a 3-0 lead and despite conceding twice they were still about the gain victory.

The past seven days saw the club also sign Jordan Preston, who impressed at Guiseley last season, with the club also expected to add to their squad before the start of the season in just under a months time.

Focusing on their most recent win Aspin was pleased with what he had seen as he told the club's website: "I was pleased with both teams that we put out in each half. I was really pleased with how the players equipped themselves and there are a lot of pluses to take from the game

"We've been back a week and I've been very pleased with how the team are looking. There's competition for places and that's exactly what we want."

The Heed have six more games during the month of July as they look to get ready for another push towards the play-off places.
