Three weeks ago the Gulls went down 4-1 at Dartford - and it looks like they faced a fight to make the Vanarama National League South play-offs.
But four wins later, the outlook has totally changed, They’re now second, seven points off the leaders whose form has taken a drip with one win in five.
Tonight they go to Taunton Town looking to close the gap to four points and victory on their shortest away trip of the season will mean they’ve won as many matches as the table-topping Glovers.
Johnson has challenged his team to up the pressure by adding win after win.
“We always kept the faith that we had it in us, but now we’ve got to go and make it six, seven… then you are flying,” he said after Saturday’s thrilling 3-2 win over Hemel Hempstead Town. “It’s nice to have made a little ground up on Yeovil.
“Some people gave me a bit of stick on social media they’ve told me. I don’t read it, thank god
“You look at the league table now and you can’t have wished for a better set of results on Saturday. It’s still early. I’m delighted for the lads and for the fans because it’s a good little run we’re on now.
“I always felt we were good enough to go on one, but sometimes you have to be patient. All our players we bring in are all decent players. But sometimes it is confidence, and sometimes it is coping with adversity but they’re playing well now.”
