Gannon's Glee As Stockport Up The Heat On Chorley

Jim Gannon told his Stockport County side to keep the heat on National League North leaders Chorley after putting York City to the sword.

Matt Warburton hit another hat-trick as the 3-1 win ruined Steve Watson’s first game in charge.

Gannon was delighted by what he watched as his team move into second spot.

They remain seen points behind Chorley but their fifth league defeat in a row keeps the pressure on.

“I always felt this was always going to be a more difficult task with a new manager,” Gannon told the club’s twitter account.

“Our structure seems to be a match for full-time sides. We finished the game really strongly today."

“What pleased me most was conceding and then kicking off perfectly and keeping the two goal cushion.

“Leamington on Tuesday is a tough task and hopefully we can go there and put some pressure on Chorley.”
