Weaver's Delight As Town Reach Home Promotion Final

Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver says reaching the Vanarama National League North promotion final left him delighted.

Town have already made a little bit of history, after finishing second in the Vanarama National League North, with the side now being one home match off gaining promotion, writes Tom Feaheny.

“When Dom Knowles scored that goal, just before the end, seeing the reaction from everyone at the ground, celebrating that moment, it meant so much to us all," Weaver said.

“The gameplan we had, never left us, we stuck to what we knew, even when they went a goal up, the tactics didn’t change.”

So what awaits both teams is a potential career defining moment for Harrogate Town and Weaver knows just what is at stake for his side.

“It obviously would be so much more special, to go up, at our own place, our home form has been very good and we need that to keep going.

“In the play-offs whoever you play deserve to be there and with it being second V third, that obviously means we both deserve to be in this position.

“It is 90 minutes maybe more but we are so close and know what is on the line for the club, I really hope we can go up.”
