Searle Has Heart Set On Winning Around Shots Supporters

Danny Searle fully accepts that he is not Aldershot Town fans’ first choice to be the club’s new manager.

But he has vowed to win them around and quickly after taking over as he confirmed Anwar Uddin will work alongside him.

Searle has promised to earn the supporters trust by producing a team they can be proud of after he was announced as the man to replace Gary Waddock.

The former Braintree Town manager knows few would have predicted he would be the man to carry the club forward in the National League South next season.

But he has vowed to get fans onside by putting out a dedicated team - and already has new signings in mind.

“I’m passionate about what I do. I’m obsessed about what I do and I’m confident in my ability and I’m approachable - I will have no problem answering questions from fans," he said.

“There is going to be an element of scepticism because I am in my infancy as a manager. That’s understandable. They are the supporters, it’s their club - I’m just a custodian.

“My message to them is to get behind the team. They can expect a lot of hard work, because we are going to try and make them proud,” he told the club’s video service.

Searle, the former West Ham and Southend youth coach, knows the club’s back story - and he hopes another great chapter is about to be written.

“I have been looking at the history of the club with my family,” he said. “The mascot is the Phoenix, which shows its rise back up - for the club to have survived what it has shows the resilience.

“It’s the right environment to be in if you want to roll your sleeves up and have a go.

“People think I’m a bit sadistic - but I actually enjoyed last season at Braintree, despite the results at times and the relegation.

“We ended in strong fashion, and it’s given me a great platform to come here.”

He added: “I have got a list of people that I want to bring to the club who I believe will be interested in coming here. There is a type of player and type of person I want to bring to the club.”
