McCann Is Casting His Magic Spell Over Hampton

At the start of the season Hampton & Richmond Borough had a fair few questions asked of them.

After three great years under the stewardship of Alan Dowson, the club lost their popular manager to Woking - and a lot of players in the process.

Not only did they need a new squad, but a new manager to piece it all together.

Hendon's Gary McCann answered the call but the rebuild was huge and hardly a single player who took them to the National League South Promotion Final remained.

Those questions got more frequent after a poor start, but now the talking is coming from inside the Beveree.

Hampton have now taken 16 points from 18 available and the new boss is really getting his feet under his new desk.

Third in the table, on Saturday they face struggling Truro City and they are looking to make it five wins in a row.

“It’s really pleasing to be where we are, even if it is after only nine matches,” McCann told the club’s twitter video stream.

“We’ve been putting in some very good performances lately which have allowed us to go on this really good run.

“They are collective performances, not just individual. That’s what pleases us the most.

“Every one to a man is doing their jobs in their positions. There’s more to come.”
