Maidenhead Sell Talented Winger Barratt To Southend

Winger Sam Barratt has become the latest export from the Vanarama National League into the EFL by joining SkyBet League One side Southend United from Maidenhead United for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old has signed a one-year contract which includes the option of a second and becomes Chris Powell’s first signing of the summer for the Shrimpers.

An England C international in his time at the Magpies, Barratt began his career at Bracknell Town, scoring on his debut aged 16 before moving to York Road in 2014.

In his time with Maidenhead he helped the club win the National League South title in 2017.

Barratt made thirty-nine appearances, scoring 7 goals and assisting in eleven last season, including writing himself into the club’s record books by scoring their first ever goal at Step 1 level on the opening day against Maidstone United.
