Iron Announce Hutchings And Borg As Duo To Take Over

Braintree Town have announced a pair of familiar faces will step into the dugout after Glen Driver resigned last week.

Club captain Jake Hutchings will step into a new role of player-manager and will be joined by former Iron boss George Borg.

Hutchings has impressed so far this season in defence while Borg previously guided the club to an Isthmian League title and successive National League South play-off campaigns.

"I've been very impressed with the way he's conducted himself," Harding told the club's website about Hutchings.

"As both our club captain and and a commanding centre-half, his quiet and assured approach has played a key part in our success.

"I know he has both the support and respect of the lads in the dressing room," he added. "You only have to see how the lads responded on Saturday, think we've definitely fallen on our feet!"

Speaking of the appointment of Borg, Harding added: "An excellent and experienced coach, I think the pair of them will compliment each other really well."

The pairs first game in charge will be Saturday's trip to Welling.
