Broken Bobby Knows How To Fix Shattered Stones

Bobby Wilkinson says he is desperate to keep his heartbroken Wealdstone squad together.

The Stones smelled promotion - going 2-0 up at Woking in the National League South play-off semi-final and had only 15 minutes to see the game out.

But they didn’t count on the Cards subs twisting the tie and an incredible late fightback was just too much for the north west London club.

Wilkinson says this is the best squad of players he has had at the club and wants them to have another crack at it next season together.

To do that he needs to be backed at the former Hungerford manager has challenged the club’s directors to keep them challenging!

He said: “It’s still very tough to take, nobody likes likes losing like that - we were close, but not close enough.

“The players were magnificent and the supporters, who were so amazing, recognised that.

“I’m an ambitious person. I want my ambition to be matched now.

“Can we take this club where it wants to be? We want to keep fighting - I don’t want this to be a one-season wonder. If you don’t win it one year, you want to win it the next.

“I’m a very proud manager. We showed who we are. We had so many injuries but in the end we didn’t quite have enough.”
