Bognor Down But Are Not Deflated Says Veteran Manager Jack

Jack Pearce has yet to decide if he will lead Bognor Regis forward next season, but he wants his players to say goodbye to the National League South the right way.

Bognor’s 3-2 home defeat to Hemel Hempstead Town confirmed their relegation after only one season at the weekend.

It’s not been the return they wanted as the club slipped to the bottom of the table and back 11 months after earning promotion.

The Rocks have four games left and Pearce wants his squad to give supporters something to remember heading into the summer with some late season wins.

Seven defeats in their last eight has seen the Sussex club sunk but having won the play-offs last season, veteran boss Pearce hopes it won’t be long before they are a National League member club again.

But if he will be taking charge next season is a different matter.

“We’re going to be looking at the situation and then we will make a decision,” said Pearce, who has been chairman, director and a player at the club in his many years.

“It’s doubtful that I will manage the side but nothing is confirmed yet. You never know what is going to happen.

“Its a big job but we’re going to be looking at it and we’ll see where we are.

“We’ve still got plenty of football to play this season yet and four more matches to come.

“We want to go out with our heads held high and if we can play like we did against St Albans City that will give everyone a little lift over the close season.”

Bognor travel to Concord Rangers tonight before they visit Oxford City on Saturday.

They could yet have a big part to play in the promotion shake-up - the Rocks’ last two matches are at home to Chelmsford City and current leaders Dartford.
