Bates Says Pools Have Got To Improve For Guaranteed Safety

Hartlepool United caretaker boss Matthew Bates says he couldn't accept the performance of his side in their last match and needs an improvement.

It is back to back losses against teams that were in the bottom four before kick-off with the Pools four points clear of safety at present.

They are next against Sutton United this weekend.

“I won’t accept any complacency because the job isn’t done yet. You just have to look at the table and a couple of teams below us have games in hand so it’s far from over," Bates told the club's website.

“We’ve debriefed after that game and the focus has been on the next match since Tuesday, we’ve been working towards Sutton.”

When looking at their last performance, Bates says there has to be an improvement now.

“Solihull started quicker than us and we’re struggling with our home form at the minute – we don’t look the same team as we do when we’re playing away and that’s concerning."
