Fantastic Trinity Victory Doesn't Surprise Sinnott

Boss Lee Sinnott says he wasn’t surprised to see his relegation-threatened Gainsborough Trinity side comfortably beat promotion chasers Spennymoor Town.

Trinity, coming off four straight defeats, picked up a vital victory against a Spennymoor side looking to secure their play-off spot.

Many outsiders will have been shocked by the 4-1 scoreline but Sinnott says his side finally got what they deserved after frustration in recent weeks.

“It’s only one result of course, but the way we went about our business and to score four goals is very pleasing,” Sinnott told Gainsborough Trinity TV.

“I’m not surprised in a way. The players, the squad, haven’t got their just rewards in recent games and that can happen in football. Sometimes it can just click and it did today.

“The way we picked ourselves up after they took the lead was magnificent and that was really important.”

Trinity now have a run of three away games starting with a huge fixture at already relegated North Ferriby United on Easter Monday.

“If you take North Ferriby for granted, you’re taking a massive risk,” Sinnott added.

“The results they’ve been getting recently shows that it won’t be easy but if we play as well as we’re capable of then we’ll give them problems.”
