FA Trophy Trauma And Big Points Won On Thrilling Day

There was important National League points claimed and FA Trophy upsets a plenty on a brilliant day of action.

Leaders Chesterfield were humbled at Welling United as their double dream died as Oldham Athletic lost at home to Isthmian League Hendon.

Aldershot were hammered 6-1 at National League South bottom markers Bishop’s Stortford as Aveley stunned AFC Fylde and Hampton won at Hartlepool United.

Dorking Wanderers had a nightmare trip to Macclesfield, going down 5-0.

The battle for points was intense. Southend United are refusing to give up on the National League play-offs - they left Eastleigh 1-0 winners, Jack Bridge’s 53rd minute penalty the difference, pictured.

It was an incredible day for Tamworth in the National League North.

Their lead is now eight points after Ben Acquaye’s goal at Darlington was enough to take all the points back to the Midlands.

As they returned to the dressing room they discovered title rivals Scunthorpe United had lost 2-0 at Brackley - Alex Gudger and Connor Hall scoring for the Saints.

Chester beat Gloucester City 3-0. Tom Peers, George Glendon and Iwan Murray on the mark for the Seals.

Max Brogan completed Buxton’s turn around against King’s Lynn, 2-2 it ended, as it did at Blyth Spartans and Ken Charles earned Banbury a big point.

Danny Waldron scored two more as Rushall Olympic edged Spennymoor 4-3. Warrington never know when they’re beaten - Danny Atherton earned a point in a thriller against Alfreton. They were 2-0 down with a minute to go.

Player/manager Clayton Donaldson scored for Farsley Celtic as they defeated Scarborough as Devon Matthews made Curzon Ashton’s point at Boston United.

Worthing are up to second in the National League South as the free-scoring Rebels came from behind to thrash in-form Truro City.

Tyler Harvey put the hosts ahead but doubles from Danny Cashman and Ollie Pearce helped the south coast side to a very comfortable victory.

Maidstone United couldn’t close the gap on leaders Yeovil as they went down 2-1 at Havant & Waterlooville. Ryan Seager got both the Hawks’ goals but safety is still nine points away despite their recent revival.

Eastbourne Borough were left heartbroken by Shaun Jeffers, his double was deadly as St Albans City turned it around to take all the points.

Weymouth move a little further away from trouble after a simple 3-0 win over Slough Town. Brandon Goodship scored again.

Michael Folivi and Josh Hill found the net as Hemel Hempstead defeated Tonbridge Angels 2-0 as George Nikaj earned bottom side Dover Athletic a point at Taunton Town.
