Worthing Fans Told: Next Season Will Be Fun And Exciting

Worthing’s new manager Chris Agutter says it’s impossible to not be excited about the club’s future and wants fans to buckle up for an exciting season.

Nearly four weeks into his new job, the former Hastings United boss has got down to work as he replaces Adam Hinshelwood at the National League South side.

He outlined what fans can expect and says the fact his and the club’s football philosophies are the same make it a great fit.

Last month the Rebels fell just short, losing the Promotion Final to Braintree Town in extra time.

But he joins a division which will be very competitive next season with a number of eye-catching transfers grabbing the headlines.

Agutter hopes Worthing can be a contender again and said: “The club has such a clear vision on how it wants the team to play football and how it operates.

“Ultimately the club has been very successful doing it. In terms of what the supporters want to see - they want attacking, front-foot football. The best form of defence is always attack.

“We want to build a possession-based technically demanding brand of football. It’s the best way to win matches.”

The new manager appears to not have to change too much. He told the club’s YouTube channel: “There’s an awful lot right with what’s in place. When there’s a change there’s sometimes a fear that all the things the players like will change too.

“But I’ve spoken to them all and the group are really clear. You can’t not be excited - the people here are desperate to move forward, if that doesn’t stimulate you and want you to push on, you’re in the wrong game.

“I’m incredibly ambitious. I have a drive to work in the Football League again. It’s going to be exciting and it’s going to be good fun - we’re going to have a go and the fans will see a team fighting for the shirt.”
