We're Hurting But We're Raring To Get Going, Says Cowan

Gavin Cowan believes time could be the best healer for AFC Telford's fledgling season and insists things can only get better.

After a tough start to their league campaign, the Bucks crashed out of the FA Cup to Nantwich Town last week - something Cowan says is a low point.

But he also reckons hitting rock bottom might be exactly what their season needs.

“Saturday was a real low point but sometimes when you’ve had such good success, you’ve got to hit rock bottom to start to pick up again," he told the Shropshire Star.

"We need to get to Saturday and put in a performance more than anything. Hopefully the result looks after itself.

“I think they are hurting," he added. "With the conversations we have, we have a very open floor for people to say how they feel.”

The Bucks head to Blyth Spartans on Saturday afternoon - a side who have yet to record their first league win of the season.

Cowan is hoping it could be a good chance to kick-start their season.

“We’re just staying positive," he said. "We retained 90 per cent of players and brought quality in. They don’t turn into bad players overnight - it doesn’t all fall apart.

“It could be a completely different conversation in a month.”
