Vanarama's National League fan preview - FC Halifax Town

FC Halifax regular Kieran Topper gives us the lowdown on how the Shaymen are shaping up.

League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans’ perspective ahead of the new season - which kicks off this Saturday.

Finally the new season is nearly upon us - so what have FC Halifax fans got to look forward to?
The unknown - and with that always comes a sense of excitement. It’s rarely dull at FC Halifax Town.

The build up may not have been perfect but how excited are you about the new era?
It was a shame to see Jamie Fullarton leave but now we just need to move forward. The more I read about Pete Wild, the more I can’t wait for the season to start.

The new man is a manager of pedigree. What will he bring to the table and what does he need to have success at the Shay?
Time. The situation is not perfect and he hasn’t had much in the way of preparation. But what you will find is people taking it as read that it’s three points against FC Halifax. We’re well under the radar and that could help.

What’s been the best bit of business done over the past few months?
I think Tobi Sho-Silva will show what he is all about. He hasn’t played much for Dover in the past few years but he will be itching to prove a point to a few people.

Who will be your one to watch coming August 3?
Jamie Allen. He has a lot of qualities and is another who has arrived here hoping to set the record straight.

Who are the other sides to watch out for and could be in the promotion mix?
I have Chesterfield down to do very well. AFC Fylde seem to get better every year but it’s about how quickly their new signings come together and operate as a team. Solihull Moors should do well too.

But who will be the season’s surprise package?
Bromley. They seem to be signing good players and the club’s new stand looks great. Watch out for them. Ebbsfleet will also go under the radar and be better than most sceptics think. Of course we have them first!

What club are you most looking forward to visiting?
Chorley. I have never been. They seem to create a good atmosphere up there looking at their Promotion Final videos.

And what game would you like to win more than any other?
Chesterfield. We owe them one. A good win over Notts County would also be nice.

What opposition player would you most like to see in your side - and what makes him so good?
Re-sign. Matty Kosylo. You wouldn’t mind Fylde, would you?

Finally, the key question - where do you predict your team will finish next season?
There is no reason why we can’t finish in the top half if the new manager gets his messages into the players quickly.

Vanarama have recently launched the National League Club Reward scheme to help fans back their club’s budget. Every time a fan takes out a brand new van lease with Vanarama or a brand new car lease with Motorama their club will earn £100 and you will receive £30 cashback.
