Sweden Beckons For Turgott After Bidding Farewell To Stones

Blair Turgott has left Maidstone United for a new challenge with Swedish side Ostersunds.

He's the second National League star to make the move to Sweden after Guiseley's Alex Purver headed there last week.

Stones captain Turgott, who bagged 14-goals last season, now links up with English manager Ian Burchnall at his new club.

"It's great to be here," he told his new club's official website. "I was here before and visited and I liked the club and the players here.

"Now I am happy to have signed a contract and I will do what I can to help the team."

He also took to his personal Twitter account to thank Maidstone United.

"Massive thank you to all involved at [Maidstone United] for the past year & half," he wrote.

"It was a honour to captain your club and lead the boys out. A club that made me feel at home and loved.

"Great staff, players and fans - The Gallagher will always live in my memory."

Maidstone United get their 2019/20 National League South campaign underway against Weymouth on August 3.
