Saturday's Big Preview National League North

By Sam Elliott

There’s seven National League matches on offer this weekend - and none bigger than the game at the New Bucks Head.

AFC Telford’s rise has been supersonic, up to third and in sight of the title despite last season being spent struggling against the drop.

That’s all changed under Gavin Cowan. They welcome leaders Bradford (Park Avenue) having won their last three.

Mark Bower’s men are needing a response following last weekend’s 4-0 FA Trophy whitewash at Altrincham.

Second place Chorley are in action against Boston United. They may have let in ten goals in their last two cup matches combined but they got their National League North campaign back in motion by thrashing Kidderminster 4-0 last time out.

York City hope their win at Kiddy - in the Trophy last weekend - can kick-start their season.

The Minstermen are just three points off the bottom three and are in desperate need of a result at home to FC United of Manchester.

Nuneaton will see a home game with Blyth Spartans as an ideal opportunity to close the six-point gap between themselves and the sides on the other side of the dreaded dotted line.

Chester still have eyes on the title and welcome Darlington aiming to put more pressure on.

Hereford have yet to kick on under their new manager Marc Richards.

With the Bulls second bottom they know they need to turn the corner soon in the league and hope a home match with Alfreton can begin their recovery.

Brackley, meanwhile, welcome Altrincham as seventh plays eighth.
