Morison Gets Busy As Sutton Move To Make Ambition Clear

Steve Morison made it a 13 new players for the summer this afternoon and then declared: I’m not done yet!

The Sutton United manager is carrying out surgery and clearly wants to give his side a facelift following relegation from the EFL.

The club’s three year stay in League Two ended and the 2021 champions have impressed in the transfer market - and they’ve already added 13 new arrivals.

On Thursday Lewis Simper joined from Cambridge United before Bournemouth’s Jack Wadham made his way through the door at Gander Green Lane ahead of the weekend.

The Ambers then added defender Harry Ransom to their ranks to cap off a busy fortnight.

The manager, 40, says he has been forensic with all the new recruits and says promotion must be the ambition.

“The players we have bought it all have a point to prove - they’re all on the upward curve, not a downward one,” the manager said in a fans’ update on south west London club’s YouTube channel.

“It’s really exciting. There will be more to come too - we need some more, and then it’s down to us to polish things off on the training ground. We got a lot of pre-season games, then we can spend time bringing them all together.

"I’m excited to come back to work. Everyone is looking forward to it. It’s a new feel, and it’s a nice feel too. I really hope we can put in some good performances and get this club at the right end of the table.”

Speaking more about his ambitions, he went on: “We want to be pushing to get ourselves back in the Football League.

“Promotion has to be the goal. Don’t get me wrong, however many teams will be saying the same thing. But you’ve got to start with a goal, start with a dream - it’s down to us to put it into practice.”
