Magpies Looking To Write Their Own Headlines

Jamie Vermiglio says Chorley’s own promotion is the main motivation on Sunday - not ending’s Spennymoor’s hopes because they killed their title dream!

But he admits there is a little extra motivation to not have their hopes dashed again by the same side.

Moors manager Jason Ainsley thinks there will be extra needle to the National League North Promotion Final after what happened last month.

Their 1-0 victory against the Magpies effectively ruined their championship hopes and swung things in Stockport’s favour.

As fate would have it they meet again - and having won twice already against the runners up, Spennymoor are looking to compete a stunning hat-trick.

But with such a huge prize on offer, Chorley’s manager says it’s not about what has gone on during the season - just about the winner-takes-all tie at Victory Park.

“The boys will be up for it,” he told the Chorley Guardian.

“Their lads have done better against us than we have done against them so it is a challenge for our lads to not let that happen again.

“I am sure that they will be up for it. There is a tiny bit of if we would have picked up a draw there we would have won the league.

“I would not call it revenge, just extra motivation to not be turned over by them.

“We’ve already had that happen twice and it will not happen again.”
