Lions Making It Hard For Themselves Stresses Bignot

Marcus Bignot feels Guiseley could be a long way from safety if they continue to start games slowly.

The Lions found themselves with a mountain to climb after eight minutes at Spennymoor Town last night after two quickfire Shane Henry goals.

Speaking after the game, Bignot told the club's website that his side could easily trip themselves up if they don't show the right mentality.

"They got the ideal start and we got the worst possible start going," he said. "Then we’ve conceded five minutes before half-time – they’ve scored goals at critical times.

"We didn’t earn the right to play football in the first-half and we’ve got to understand how we go about how we compete at this level and that is about mentality and then ability comes after that.

"We’ve gone out tonight thinking we can just carry on from the second-half at York but we’ve got to start all over again."

Guiseley head to another promotion chasing side in Brackley on Saturday.

And Bignot feels the result will all be about how his side apply themselves at St James Park.

"We’ve got to make sure we apply ourselves over the next five games because we are a good team when we apply ourselves."
