Ex-Bulls stopper signed to stiffen competition

Worcester City have signed former Hereford United keeper Daniel Lloyd-Weston for the upcoming Vanarama National South campaign.

The 23-year-old, pictured, has been brought in by manager Carl Heeley to give Nathan Vaughan competition for the green jersey.

Weston originally turned down an offer from Worcester because the club’s current home base, Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough stadium, was too far from his Crewe home.

After ending last season at Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Newcastle Town following the demise of the Bulls, Lloyd-Weston had considered quitting the game.

But the stopper, who was previously on the books of Port Vale and Cheltenham Town, now plans to move to Cheltenham after signing up for a degree course at Hartpury College in Gloucester.

City officials say Lloyd-Weston approached the club again after a tip-off from Hereford FC boss Peter Beadle.
