Driver Takes The Wheel As Braintree Start A New Route

Braintree Town have found the man they hope will guide them back to the National League.

Leiston manager Glen Driver will take over at Cressing Road after the club concluded its interview process.

He replaces Danny Searle, who has taken charge at Aldershot Town.

Iron chairman Lee Harding is excited about a new chapter for the Essex club back in the National League South.

"Once again we have been spoilt with the calibre of applicants,” the long serving Town chief told the club’s website.

“All of those on our short-list were very able and have had success, but we were impressed with Glen's footballing philosophy.

“He has an excellent network of contacts in the game at our level and is also keen to work with the club as we build for the future.

“I am confident that he will play a pivotal role in working with our new youth sides to provide a link for those up and coming players to progress into the first team squad."

The new boss wouldn’t make any guarantees - except players having pride in the shirt.

Driver said: “I'm not going to make outrageous promises other than we'll work hard for the fans and give 100 per cent.”
