The Hard Work Never Stops For Hemel Boss Brennan

For most managers at this time of year it’s a case of putting their feet up, keeping a close eye on their mobile phones and waiting for the running, and complaining, to start.

Those that aren’t on holiday are plotting their plans for pre-season and gathering together a squad which is better than the one they had last year.

But not Hemel Hempstead manager Dean Brennan.

He managed to find a game to go and observe at the weekend which allowed him the chance to rule the rule over potential players.

Brennan did mix business with pleasure, mind you.

“I went to watch England C’s game with Ireland,” said the Dublin born Tudors boss.

“It was a good excuse to tie in a trip back home, have a few drinks and see a game. It was nice to watch some good, young and hungry players playing for their countries.

“I was actually surprised there weren’t many Non-League or Football League managers there as you often get to see some real talent.

“It was really worthwhile and was a great result for the Irish boys too!”

Hemel have signed two strikers so far, Steve Cawley arrived from Concord Rangers while Phil Roberts has been added to their forward line.

“We are looking at a couple of more attacking options,” said Brennan who guided Hemel to the play-offs last season but fell just short in the eliminator against Braintree Town.

“It’s still early of course, but we’re really happy with what we’ve done so far.”
