Woking Boss Doyle Names 'Best Side' Two Months In

Woking manager Michael Doyle has waded in with his view about which side is the best in the National League.

The Cards manager says he’s seen plenty of all the sides near the top of the division so far.

But after seeing York City with his own eyes on Saturday, the Irishman says he has been most impressed with the Minstermen.

His comments come two weeks after countryman Dean Brennan, the manager of table toppers Barnet, went on record saying that Forest Green Rovers are the favourites for the title.

Doyle thinks York will give both clubs a run for their money in the months ahead.

He told us following the live DAZN game on Saturday: “All credit to York, I think that they are an outstanding team.

“I looked at their players before they scored and I was a bit annoyed. You think that if you can do it against the best team in the league that were on for their fifth clean sheet, so to concede from a penalty is really disappointing.”

It doesn’t seem that York manager Adam Hinshelwood agreed with his counterpart.

Following the 1-1 draw he said: “The difference between us and the teams who will be right up there is that they turn draws like this into wins”

Both sides are in FA Cup action this weekend and Woking face Slough Town with a huge upset ringing in their ears.

Doyle said: “Everyone at the club remembers what happened last year, losing to Ramsgate and it caused a lot of hurt. Slough are a very good side who will be well up for the match.”
