What’s In Store In The National League South On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

There really is only one place to start as we preview Saturday’s National League South programme.

It’s first vs second as Torquay United and Welling battle it out at Plainmoor.

Gary Johnson’s side have rocketed up the table since his appointment but even after four straight wins they know this weekend is by far their toughest examination.

Welling have lost just once since mid August and manager Steve King said: “It’s a huge game and we have got the players to rise to the occasion.”

Billericay Town took the Friday night headlines. A number of players have left including top scorer Jake Robinson.

How will Dean Brennan’s players react against at an Eastbourne side who have just won 3-0 at Wealdstone?

There are smiles on faces at Woking at the moment and with good reason. They will be looking to take advantage if points at dropped elsewhere - Alan Dowson takes his team to Weston-super-Mare.

Concord Rangers’ recent great run will be put under the microscope by Jerry Gill’s Bath City at Twerton Park.

Up-and-down Chelmsford face troubled East Thurrock in an Essex derby, while Wealdstone haven’t got far to travel when they head to St Albans City.

Slough Town fell agonisingly short in the FA Cup against Gillingham and go to Dartford looking to close the gap on the top seven.

Hampton are moving in the right direction again while Gloucester City remain just above the bottom three. Chris Todd’s side remain winless since August.

Hemel Hempstead could be in the play-offs again if they win at home to Dulwich Hamlet and results elsewhere go for them. Gavin Rose and Dulwich fans wants their side further up the table.

Hungerford Town occupy a place in the bottom three. You get the feeling Saturday’s home game with Chippenham will be important to their season.

Truro City manager Leigh Robinson takes his Manager of the Month award to Oxford City, who are still buoyant after flattening Billericay Town last weekend.

Bath City v Concord Rangers
