Meet Your National League South Season's Big Winners!

By Sam Elliott

It was an incredible Vanarama National League South season and it’s not over yet but before this weekend’s Promotion Final, we’re placing more awards in hands.

We’re thrilled to present to you the Player of the Year, the season’s Top Scorer and well as the Manager of the Year after an incredible campaign.

The Team of the Season is also announced, and like the Player of the Year gong, the all-star XI is voted for by the clubs.

Not only do those who make an impression on the pitch get recognition, those who do a great job off it are too - the Programme of the Year is also crowned, and it’s those reading every week who decide the winner.

With such a rich array of attacking talent, and well as some sensational weekly performances at his own club, the Player of Year was hotly contested.

Joan Luque did some real damage for Maidstone United, the Spaniard scoring 20 goals as the Stones eventually strolled towards the title - it was enough to see the 29-year-old honoured.

It’s a Maidstone double with champion Hakan Hayrettin getting the year’s top boss accolade as they held their nerve when it mattered.

Alfie Rutherford incredibly managed ten more goals than Luque - he scooped the Top Scorer award as he finished ahead of St Albans City striker Shaun Jeffers.

The scoring sensation helped himself over the line by his antics in April, with a four-goal salvo fired against Concord Rangers.

Chelmsford City’s media team are rewarded for a brilliant read, the Clarets boast the Programme of the Year.

Well done, all our fantastic winners!
