Herring Is Ready If Needed As Crusaders Plot Improvement

The 34-year-old took charge last season and maintained a key role on the pitch as well as off it.

The club preserved their National League South status on the final day of the season and Herring saw their survival as mission accomplished.

He’s unsure how much of a role he will have to play on the field next season but it looks as if he will be raring to go should the team need his experience.

Hungerford have added Kevin Watson to their coaching team and Herring is hopeful that the club can avoid a struggle this time around.

“In terms of me playing, we’ll see how things play out,” he said. “I’m keeping myself fit and enjoying it still so let’s see.

“Having Kevin and Jeremy Newton is big for the club. We need all the help we can get and they will be a huge help.

“We want to push on next season and with a bit of luck we can make an impression.

“I’m learning all the time. I’ve had to really. The National League South is demanding and we’ve all got to learn fast.

“We’re ready for the challenge and the season that’s ahead of us.”

Hungerford travel to St Albans City on the first day of the season before testing home matches with Wealdstone and Chelmsford City.
