Dowson Back Up And Running Weeks After Coronavirus Scare

The Woking manager was rushed. to St Peter's Hospital last month and didn't think he was going to survive.

It incapacitated him for three weeks, but don’t forget this a man who once continued playing football for 20 minutes when he had broken a leg.

Now he is upping his recovery and proving he is over the worst by getting his trainers on.

He is doing 20 laps around Goldsworth Park Lake to support a local kids football team hit financially by COVID-19.

He is aiming to raise £2,000 for junior side Goldsworth Park Rangers after their summer tournament plans had to be shelved.

Dowson explained all about contracting the Coronavirus and says he feels lucky to still be with us.

“It was absolutely horrendous,” he said. “I thought I was a goner, I thought that was me done.
“I’ve always been one of those people who just gets on with things but it knocked the stuffing out of me.

“I thought it was just going to be a bit like the flu and you’d just have to carry on as best you could but I couldn’t. I had to go to hospital.

“I couldn’t eat or drink but the NHS staff were great to me. They really are incredible.”
