Coasters Want To Set The Record Straight On Sunday

Dave Challinor and AFC Fylde have a Wembley point to prove.

The Coasters left the home of football deflated last weekend after they were outplayed by Salford City in the National League Promotion Final.

They were out of the game inside an hour as they saw the chance to play in the EFL pass them by.

But the chance for redemption arrives in the form of the FA Trophy final.

Fylde and Leyton Orient meet in the final match of the season with 28,000 tickets -already sold by the two clubs.

Challinor knows they need to set the record straight after last weekend’s 3-0 defeat.

“It was important after the last game we made it as light-hearted as possible, and we came back and enjoyed the evening, as they’d earned it,” he told the club’s website.

“The worst thing you can do is sit and be unhappy and dour – you have to learn from it, and you have to move on, and we have a big chance to do it this Sunday.”

“It’s not a nice place to be on the wrong side of a result, but it’s an experience we’ve all learned from, and hopefully this Sunday gives us a chance in a familiar environment to right the wrongs.

“Now is not a time to reflect analytically, but some people didn’t perform on the day, and in my opinion, we didn’t take enough responsibility.”

“You’ve got to do the basics well, defend set-pieces for example, which we didn’t do, and we paid the price.”
