Vanarama National League club Wrexham AFC have announced the signing of Michael Bakare and Nortei Nortey on one-year deals.

Twenty-nine-year-old midfielder Bakare joins the Reds after spending last season with Welling United.

Born in Hackney, London, Bakare (pictured), who can also operate as a striker, started his career with Leyton FC. He went on to have a first spell at Welling in 2009.

As well as Welling, he has also tasted Conference National football with Macclesfield Town, Southport, Dover Athletic and Braintree Town during his career.

After suffering an injury in 2014 while at Braintree, he bounced back by joining Bury Town to regain his fitness before signing at Welling last season.

Twenty-one-year-old defender Nortey also joins after spending last season with Welling.

Prior to this, he was part of the Chelsea Academy, where he joined relatively late on at the age of 15.

He represented the former Premier League champions at under-18 and under-21 levels.

He was released at the end of his scholarship after five years with the Blues and joined both Sheffield Wednesday and Luton Town on trial in 2014.

Shortly after, he joined Maidenhead United briefly before signing with Welling on non-contract terms in August 2015.

The tenacious full-back was born in Hammersmith, London but holds both British and Ghanaian passports.
