Dragons' Four Out Of Contract Stars Sign Up For More

By Steve Whitney

Wrexham AFC have announced that four out of contract players have signed new deals.

Christian Dibble, Mark Carrington, Paul Rutherford and Chris Holroyd have all extended their stay at the Racecourse Ground after being handed a deal by new manager Sam Ricketts.

Twenty-four-year old keeper Dibble has penned a two-year deal keeping him with the Dragons until 2020 and will be looking to push on following his maiden campaign in North Wales.

He made five appearances for Wrexham during the 2017/18 as back up to Chris Dunn, making his debut against Maidstone United in August 2017 after Dunn pulled up in the warm up.

After saving three penalties in his five games he picked up an injury which saw him drop out the side. He now looks to kick on between the sticks.

Versatile midfielder Carrington has put pen-to-paper on a one-year extension, meaning he heads into his sixth season with Wrexham.

Carrington has just under 200 appearances for the Dragons and will be looking to surpass that figure in 2019 as the club`s longest-serving player.

The Warrington-born player joined in 2013 and has played across the defence and midfield and has proved to be flexible for the four managers he's played under so far.

Winger Rutherford has also signed a new one-year deal with Wrexham having had a season of personal success.

The wide midfielder grabbed fifteen assists for the Dragons last term and won the award for the most improved player at the player of the season awards earlier this month.

Having joined in 2016, he made an instant impact scoring a 96th minute winner at Guiseley AFC in his second game for Wrexham and has gone on to improve in his two years with the Reds.

The 30-year old Liverpudlian will be looking to continue to perform well as a creative outlet down the right during the 2018/19 campaign.

Forward Holroyd (pictured) has been awarded a new one-year deal, having finished as the club`s top scorer in the National League last season with 13 to his name.

The former Macclesfield Town striker joined twelve months ago, making thirty-four appearances throughout the previous campaign and now enters his second year in North Wales.
