Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi Confirms Fleet’s Future

Ebbsfleet United’s owners have released a statement regarding the club’s future.

Garry Hill’s team enhanced their National League play-off prospects as they came from behind to draw 1-1 at Gateshead on Saturday.

Now the club have spoken to bring fans up to date on goings on at the club.

It read: “Ebbsfleet United chairman Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi reiterated his commitment to the football club as he and managing director Dave Archer held a 90-minute meeting with around 50 Fleet Trust members and other gathered supporters at the Kuflink Stadium on Friday evening.

“Dr Abdulla gave a 25-minute opening address outlining the historic situation at the club that has brought about the financial restructure and both he and Dave Archer took more than 25 questions from the assembled supporters.

Dave Archer said: “Dr Abdulla will continue to fund the club at a manageable level. That is the key thing here. He is still putting in substantial amounts but there is no waste. Even with a reduced budget next season, do not underestimate the considerable level of input Dr Abdulla will still be making into this club.”

Dr Abdulla said: “Similar to how everyone becomes a fan, I’ll admit at first I had never heard of Ebbsfleet United.

“But in time, like you supporters, I became hooked and passionate about it, going to as many home and away matches as I could.

“My intention was to put out a statement at the end of the season but because I know lots of supporters are worried about what’s happening at the football club and asking about my intentions, so then I wanted to explain the overall picture.

“We have a good chance of getting into the play-offs and once you get there, you never know. I want us all to focus on that and I don’t want to get into public arguments. I am here for the long run.

“This football club belongs to all of us. I still want to be the first chairman in the history of this club to play in the League and I remain committed for years to come.

“I am happy to fund a deficit but at a more manageable level. Unnecessary additions like Portugal trips, player relocation costs, agents fees, that kind of thing, they will be reduced. Too much money has been spent, too much to measure against progress in the past few years.

“Garry Hill is prudent, he is the right manager for this football club at this point in time. I think the appointments of Dave Archer and Garry are the two best decisions I have made since I took over the club.”
