Double Signing Boost For AFC Telford Ahead Of The Weekend

AFC Telford United have announced the double signing of Ben Wilson and Amari Morgan-Smith.

Goalkeeper Wilson has joined the club from SkyBet Championship side Cardiff City until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old started his career with Sunderland before spells at Chesterfield, Cambridge United and Accrington Stanley.

He then earned a permanent move to Cardiff where he has featured four times in the Championship.

Wilson enjoyed a loan spell at Rochdale last season, playing eight games, keeping two clean sheets.

Wilson has also enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Oldham Athletic during the first half of this season.

Forward Morgan-Smith arrives from league rivals York City on an eighteen-month deal.

Morgan-Smith (pictured) signed for York from Cheltenham Town on loan part-way through the 2016/17 season and made an immediate impact, scoring 6 goals.

He then joined the Minstermen on a permeant basis in the summer of 2017.

Morgan-Smith signs for the Bucks with plenty of experience of playing at the higher level having taken in spells at Luton Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Macclesfield Town, and Oldham before moving to Cheltenham, where he was a key member of their promotion-winning side from the National League.

Manager Rob Edwards was delighted to secure his two new signings ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Southport, telling the club`s official website: “Ben joins us with a great pedigree and a wealth of experience of playing at Football League level. Aged at 25 he has enough experience to be able to do well at this level.

“Amari joins us as a big powerful forward who has proven he can do well at this level, he lives local to the ground and is keen to do well for the club and be part of what we are trying to achieve here.”

Meanwhile, Premier League Huddersfield Town have recalled goalkeeper Ryan Schofield from his loan with the Bucks.
