Dolphins Remain Hopeful As They Target Great Escape

Survival for Poole Town would be celebrated as much as their Southern Premier title win according to chairman Chris Reeves.

The Dolphins’ hopes of staying up were dealt a huge blow on Easter Monday as they went down 4-0 at Hungerford Town.

Tom Killick’s men now have just six games remaining and are still five points adrift of safety in the National League South.

Despite Monday’s disappointment, Reeves reckons the Poole squad remain close and committed to pulling off “the greatest of escapes” as they look to avoid a Step 3 return.

The Dolphins chief told the club’s website: “The defeat at Hungerford on Easter Monday was a bitter blow.

“With the squad rocked by suspensions and injuries and illness, the game was always going to be a difficult one.

“In the aftermath of losing such a vital fixture, it is understandable that there should be an air of pessimism. The fact of the matter is however that we do still have a chance.

“All the players remain united and remain committed to doing all that they can to pull off what will undoubtedly be one of the greatest of escapes and if achieved will be celebrated every bit as much as any of our recent league championships.”
