Dean: Wembley Win Can Help Overcome League Finish

Brackley Town captain Gareth Dean says the side want to use their frustration of missing out on promotion at Wembley on Sunday.

A 3-0 loss at Harrogate Town means the side remain in the Vanarama National League North for next season, writes Tom Feaheny.

“It is a massive game for us coming up against a team a league above, we will work hard this week and want to be celebrating at Wembley," Dean said.

"We go with a sense of wanting to end the season right."

After that promotion final loss, Dean admitted he was hurting.

“I’m gutted and heartbroken, it feels like we’ve played 43 games for nothing.

“We’ve gained no reward in terms of not going up, we weren’t ruthless enough on the day."

Dean though says attention is already on next season as well.

“I’m a big believer in watching them celebrate let it hurt us but then use that next season, and come back stronger

“I’ve been here before missing out like this then the next season I went up so that is the aim again already."
