Day’s Unique Way To Get The Best Out Of Hat-Trick Hero!

Spencer Day watched Joe Haigh bag a hat-trick as Farnborough scored eight goals on Monday - and wants to reward him with a whack!

The Boro enjoyed an Easter Monday to remember as they smashed Hampton & Richmond 8-2 away from home, writes George Busby.

Haigh in particular enjoyed the game as he netted an incredible hat-trick - and did it while carrying an injury.

Manager Spencer Day celebrated the former Chelsea academy player scoring three by threatening to make matters worse!

“Joe’s hurt his shoulder but he managed to score a hat-trick” he told the club’s YouTube channel. “So I think we’ll whack him again!

“We were ruthless, and it's disappointing how many games we've lost by the odd goal this season, particularly away from home - we've saved all the goals up for today.

“To score eight away from home is quite an achievement. Thought we were for 90 per cent of the game fantastic, we took it straight to them.

“I went with a very attacking formation, I knew they were struggling and two of the back four were not normal players.”

Farnborough have had a steady season, and currently in ninth place having fallen short of the play-offs.

Their victory this Monday is the division’s highest scoring victory of the season, and the biggest away win in the since the National League South was rebranded in 2017.

Boro end the season next weekend at home to promotion hopefuls Maidstone United.
