Day Brings in the Corne

Jamie Day, manager of Vanarama National League club Braintree Town, has returned to his former side Welling United once again to sign highly-rated young midfielder Sam Corne.

Nineteen-year-old Corne received the man of the match award on Tuesday night for his performance in the Wings 2-1 defeat against Bishop`s Stortford at Park View Road.

And last season, Barclays Premier League giants Chelsea and League One Millwall were amongst a host of clubs said to be tracking him.

Originally with Cambridge United, he signed a two-year contract with Welling in May 2015.
