Culverhouse Wants His Boston Braves To Now Go Full Circle

The club’s manager took over back in September 2022 when the side were rock bottom of the National League North and now they find themselves just one game from promotion.

The Pilgrims head to Brackley Town on Saturday looking to clinch a National League place and with the backing of their brilliant fans on the road, they keep on holding firm.

If they do manage to go up at St James Park, those travel weary supporters won’t care how they do it. Two less-than-enthralling away play-off games were settled on penalty kicks with both ending in stalemate and Culverhouse thinks it could come down to fine margins again.

The manager, a champion in this division with King’s Lynn Town four seasons ago, this time wants to do it without any ifs, buts or maybes from anyone.

Following much deliberation, the National League North was finally settled on a points-per-game calculation in 2020, crowning King's Lynn champions despite being two points behind York City. Crucially, they had games in hand.

Culverhouse, who signed a new contract with the club in February, said in his programme interview that the club has come on leaps and bounds since he first walked in. He said: “When we came into the building in September 2022, the side was winless and bottom of the table.

“The progress since then has been remarkable, moving towards mid-table safety before the end of last season and then switching to a new hybrid training model in the summer.

“I am immensely proud of a predominantly young group of players, who have come together magnificently as the season has progressed to secure an eventual sixth place finish in a highly-competitive division.

“Our supporters have been phenomenal all season and taking 929 and 1,455 to Alfreton Town and Scunthorpe United over recent days has been a joy to behold. I hope they are rewarded with a fitting finale to the season.”
