Chorley Bring in Young Rovers` Striker

Vanarama National League North club Chorley have announced the...

....signing of the highly-rated striker Dean Rittenberg from Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Rittenberg is initially joining the Magpies on a one month deal and will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s league game at Stockport County.

The 19-year-old, who has been with Rovers since the age of 13, can play through the centre or out wide and has represented England at under-18 level, netting for his country with his first touch against Germany in 2014.

Meanwhile, Tom Smyth has been released by the club, while fellow defender Adam Dodd has signed dual registration forms with local Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North neighbours Bamber Bridge.

Smyth, who arrived at Chorley from Colwyn Bay in the summer of 2014, looked to be forming a formidable partnership with captain Andy Teague last season until injuries began to blight his season.

In a bid to build up his fitness this season Smyth has played for both Ashton Athletic and Trafford, while still registered with Chorley, but has now left to find regular football.

Dodd joined the club at the same time as Smyth and last season also suffered from injuries.

He is now back to full fitness but has joined Brig to regain much-needed match sharpness.
