Challinor Wants The Good Feeling To Last After Cup Heroics

Dave Challinor is hoping Hartlepool's cup heroics can inspire a revival at Victoria Park.

The Pools progressed in the FA Cup on Tuesday night after seeing off League Two Exeter City.

Josh Hawkes struck in extra time to set up a fourth round tie with Oxford United.

And Challinor is determined to make sure the euphoria of their cup run is something that becomes a permanent fixture in the North East.

"I enjoyed it massively. Even if we hadn't won the game, what the players gave really gave the fans something to cheer about," Challinor told the club's video service.

"Tactics go out of the window when you go into extra time and one moment of quality has won us the match.

"It's a great night and one that we hope to have more of an replicate here in the future.

"It was a really tight game and we were more than a match for a side in League Two who have a really good opportunity to get promoted - that should be massive for us," he added.

"We now have a really tough game at Oxford United in League One. But the cup gives you an opportunity and we go there with a real chance.

"It's about carrying this momentum forward now because we want to bring these kind of occasions back and the more frequently we can do that, the better it will be for everyone."
