Bumper Night Awaits With EFL Big Hitters In The Firing Line!

By Sam Elliott

Five of our clubs go looking to upset the FA Cup apple cart tonight and there’s some very important league points up for grabs too.

EFL opponents await this evening with a place in the second round up for grabs.

Torquay United have the toughest task of them all but after already giving Derby County something to think about, pictured. Will there be another story to be told?

Gary Johnson’s struggling team have nothing to lose at Pride Park, a game live on BBC Three - and the experienced manager says it could boost the club on and off the pitch.

"Wherever you play a big game and it brings in a little bit of extra cash, then it's a positive," Johnson said.

"It means that myself and the board of directors will discuss anything that might come up and then see whether we've got the money to see it through.”

New AFC Fylde manager Adam Murray’s first game at the helm is at Gillingham - and with the Gills’ fans fearing the worst after six games without a win, the Coasters have hope when they make the long trip.

Weymouth boss Bobby Wilkinson says the Terras haven’t lost their best chance to defeat AFC Wimbledon.

So good in the first game, they travel to Plough Lane with the Dons on a seven game unbeaten run.

Cambridge United start as favourites to see off Curzon Ashton but Solihull Moors fancy their chances of adding to League Two strugglers Hartlepool’s problems.

There’s National League South action as well and Havant & Waterlooville will move into second place if they can topple Chippenham Town.

A point for Braintree Town against Farnborough will see the Iron move into fifth place while Dover will leapfrog Oxford City if they beat them tonight.

In the National League North, there will be a change in the leadership again - if King’s Lynn Town get the job done.

Tommy Widdrington’s team will return to the top and overhaul Brackley with a win at Southport.

Scarborough Athletic could end the day in second if things go their way, but for that to happen they need to win at Buxton.

Hereford and Peterborough Sports are both locked on 24 points, they meet at Edgar Street.
