Braintree Go Up As Thriller Brings The Curtain Down

It was a fitting season finale as Braintree clinched their National League return in a gripping Promotion Final.

The Iron go up after Reggie Lambe headed home an extra time winner, clinching a 4-3 victory to get the party started.

They are back five years after relegation and manager Angelo Harrop says he couldn’t be prouder.

Braintree went ahead when Dom Odusanya headed home a corner. But Worthing’s Mr Inevitable Ollie Pearce made it 1-1 with a cool touch and finish.

It was soon 2-1 as Jake Spong sparked wild celebrations before Aaron Blair levelled it up again.

Charlie Wakefield sent the away fans wild with a great finish but the scoring wasn’t over.

Danny Cashman was deadly soon after, the game ending 3-3.

The manager said: “What an incredible effort from the players, they absolutely deserve it - it’s going to be a fantastic night!”
