Boss Luke Doesn’t Think Wood Have Set The Standard

Luke Garrard doesn’t believe the rest of the National League should take too much notice of their emphatic win over Sutton United on Tuesday night.

Boreham Wood won 4-0 at Gander Green Lane - a result which was even more incredible considering Paul Doswell’s side had won their previous four.

Garrard’s team are now up into the play-off places and he told the club’s official website that the victory in south west London doesn’t mean they are now the team to watch

“The players have to take full credit,” the manager said on the ground that they reached Wembley in last season in the play-off semi final.

“They must really get fed up of hearing my voice but we went through Sutton before the game and they carried out every single thing I asked of them.

“I’m over the moon but it doesn’t define our season. It doesn’t define where we are going as a football club but it was a fantastic result against a superb side.”

Garrard added: “I have got to be honest I would have taken a point at the start of the game.

“It’s nice to overtake them and move into seventh but it’s small steps.

“We have had 12 points out of 18 at home which is a really good return but I told the boys we needed to be a little bit better away.

“It was an all-round performance and a fantastic three points.”
